Beautiful Songs and Guitar Playing
*I was just binging a few John Mayer videos on YouTube and decided to create this blog post about performances of beautiful original songs with beautiful guitar playing.
1) Some people would be surprised–since I’m mainly an R&B vocalist/songwriter/fan AND since I appreciate so many different types of music and music artists,–but John Mayer is arguably my favorite modern day musical artist. He has a very high songwriting and instrumentalist IQ and his overall musicianship connects with me in a superior capacity than other artists. In the initial video below is a performance of a nice Tom Petty classic, “Free Fallen”– which John and his two brilliant supporting guitarists made more substantially beautiful. This is one of my favorite music performances on YouTube. Listening to that melody with the magic those three guitarists were making together is like a little peace of Heaven every time. 👌 Enjoy:
The following was John Mayer’s second single from back in 2002 and one of my favorites by him. It’s a melodic wonderland indeed..
2) I was binging Tracey Chapman performance and interview videos on YouTube last night. I never knew very much about her except a few of her hit songs. I never heard her speak or observed her personality beyond face value. As I learned more about her, it became evident to me that she is one of the most beautiful souls the music industry has ever had the good fortune of experiencing. A deeply brilliant songwriter and a staunch proponent of justice, Tracey’s artistry and humanitarianism is a glimmer of the best of music.. the best of humanity:
I just discovered the following song last night; She sang some of my deepest sentiments exactly..
3) I appreciated Ed Sheeran’s artistry from the first time I heard his debut single, “The A-Team”. He wrote many more songs I like since then:
Another really good one..
4) This next video is a beautiful, hidden gem by gifted artist, India Arie that I discovered on YouTube about nine years ago. I think she’s among the important cornerstones of truth and love in the music industry:
5) One last guitar song I just thought of that I really enjoy is Extreme’s classic, “More Than Words”: Man..just good music; Cool two part harmony to go with a sweet melody. ..Just a good song:
Sincerely,
Kareem
